Compare automotive scissor lifts for tire and brake work, undercar service and alignment. Start with the work you need to perform, then check each model's lifting height, vehicle support design and space requirements.
A scissor lift may be an option for a single-bay or multipurpose shop, but fit and working clearance depend on the lift, the vehicle and the installation. Check the model's dimensions and installation requirements before choosing it for a low-ceiling bay. Portable and fixed configurations have different setup requirements.
The range is wide. Capacity, rise height, footprint and power requirements all vary by model, and so does whether the lift is meant for tire and brake work or for full undercar service and alignment.

Before you choose a scissor lift
- Vehicle fit: Compare the vehicle's weight and dimensions with the lift's rated capacity and supported lifting configuration.
- Bay clearance: Check lowered height, platform or runway dimensions, maximum lift height and the space required around the vehicle.
- Access for the job: Confirm that the lift design provides the wheel and underbody access your work requires.
- Installation requirements: Review the manufacturer's current installation manual for floor, anchoring, electrical and any air-supply requirements.
