3 Essential Reasons why Blogs are IMPORTANT for your Shop
7th Oct 2015
If i’ve learned one thing in the past 5 years, it’s that blogging is one of the most important pieces of any website. In our previous article we provided you with marketing tips for your blog (see The What, How and Why of Blogging for my Repair Shop) and we hope by now you’ve begun making arrangements to start your next (or first blog article). For those that have yet to begin blogging for your auto repair shop, you’re probably wondering why blogging is important.
Blogging is beneficial for multiple reasons but the three best reasons I can think of are as follows (in no particular order):
Develop Customer Relationships
People love the internet and a well-maintained blog (meaning frequent articles) will lead people to your site. People will read your articles, some will even share your articles on social media sites and even comment on what they deem important or on what they disagree with. The more engagement there is, the better your shop looks in the eyes of search engines (we’ll get to this in a second).
As shop owners and website owners you want to know what your customers are saying about your shop and about your articles. Add a comment feature which allows everyone that reads your articles to give their two cents and let you know what they think. End every article with a question and in no time you’ll notice how many people will engage with you.
Drive Traffic to your Auto Repair Shop Website
When people visit your website, it is known as traffic (the good kind) and the more traffic you have, the better chance you have of securing one of those visitors becomes a customer. A blog section will make sure your customers continue visiting your site and keeping up with your articles.
There is only so much visitors will read off your about us page and products and services page before they decide they’ve had enough. With your blog you have the opportunity to keep people engaged and even look forward to what you post next.
Become a Leader in the Automotive Industry
Well-written articles allow your customers to learn from you and see you as an authority in the industry. Shop owners are often pessimistic because they believe they can’t compete with the bigger shops but on the contrary, a well-built website with a great blog will allow you to compete in other areas. By posting articles about topics that come up around your shop, customers will know to go to you for all their questions and concerns.
If you work in auto body repair, write blog posts about the different services and estimates of what these services cost. That way your customers will get to know you and your site as the place to go when they have a problem.
